My clients are the very unique individuals who own, manage and grow successful private businesses in a volatile world.  Few people have the combined entrepreneurial/stewardship characteristics needed to be a truly successful small business owner.  There is no potential bailout for small business owners, so you either make it or you don’t.  The most successful individuals have typically risked it all to build a better life for their families, for their close business associates and, typically last but not least, for themselves. My role is to be the most trusted Senior Business Financial Advisor and a friend to these extraordinary people.

As an independent Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and a Certified Valuation Analyst (CVA) my advisory services are focused on assisting my clients to make business decisions with the highest present value results, considering and balancing the relative controllable and non-controllable risks and costs.

My Senior Business Financial Advisor services are as unique as my clients.  These services are based on hands-on experience obtained by me over 40 years from managing a successful regional public accounting firm, owning and managing several private business equity interests (a temporary employment agency, a pet health insurance business, two hydro-electric plants, a franchised truck stop, two operating farms), purchasing and selling private business interests, serving on the Board of Directors of several private businesses and public organizations, serving as an expert witness in more than 30 business litigation cases, and consulting as a senior advisor to many large private businesses in the Western US.

As a Senior Business Financial Advisor, I help private business owners develop long-term strategic business plans, develop key employee incentive compensation plans, value business interests, negotiate with third parties (including bankers, investors, franchisors, buyers and sellers of business interests), raise private equity capital, and develop short-term and long-term income and estate tax planning strategies.

My services are coordinated with the services provided by my client’s regular CPA firm, attorney, banker and insurance agents.
